The Miriam Circle of the San Dieguito United Methodist Women in Encinitas prepared 12 Hope Packs for the Joint Commission’s Hands Across the Border project. Methodist pastors meet deportees in Mexico as they are let off the buses at the border with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The deportees will each be given a Hope Pack with food, water, clothing, and hygiene essentials, and the ministers will try to give them a bus ticket to get back to their hometowns.
