CHRISTMAS VESPERS CONCERT PERFORMED TO PACKED HOUSE!
On Sunday, December 13th, our 60-voice Chancel Choir, Joyful Bell Choir, a 20-piece Chamber Orchestra selected by Nancy Swanberg, and incredible vocal soloists Anne-Marie Dicce and Janelle DeStefano brought the Advent and Christmas season to a peak with their annual Christmas Vesper concert. Printed programs evaporated, dozens of folding chairs were brought in, and some were reported to have parked near Taco Bell and Coco’s Restaurants!
Director William Hatcher later said that the audience response, thought to be over 500, was overwhelming. The performers presented Vivaldi’s Magnificat and Robert Shaw and Robert Bennett’s classic arrangement of favorite carols entitled The Many Moods of Christmas. In addition, organist Janice Stewart presented an organ offertory and Karen Zerlaut directed the bell choir in Angels From the Realms of Glory. A reception provided by the Music Series Committee followed the performance.
The annual observance of Christ’s birth, now past, is always well enhanced by centuries of music traditions that bring us closer to the source of our faith.
