United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)
The United Methodist Youth Ministry nurtures life-long Christians to serve God and neighbor in all we say and do.
Our United Methodist Youth Fellowship includes weekly fellowship and spiritual formation opportunities for youth, grades 7 through 12, as well as retreats and service projects.
On Sunday the United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) Junior High students meet as a group at 3:30 pm-5:00 pm and Senior High UMYF students meet at 6:30 pm-8:00 pm. While UMYF events are fun the focus is to learn about where Christ is in their lives, where He can be , and where He should be. UMYF is a place to fix our eyes on Jesus and center ourselves in His love and peace.
The first Sunday of every month both the Junior High and the Senior High UMYF students will meet together as a large group at 6:15pm-8:15pm for a chance to connect over a meal and then to participate in a fun bonding activity.
One of the Sundays in the middle of the month both Junior High and Senior High UMYF students will have a chance to participate in a service opportunity. Service allows students to not only practice what they are preaching and hearing but also to learn how to be Christ-like in a broken world. It also lets the youth contribute to the community in which they live.
The last Sunday of the month will be a “fun outing.” This provides an opportunity for those who attend UMYF regularly to invite their friends who might not normally come to a church event.
Events, Retreats and Service
Throughout the year UMYF participates in numerous events, retreats and service projects that help enhance the overall goals of the fellowship. A few favorites are participation in a Fall Retreat, Winter Retreat, Sierra Service Project and San Diego District Summer Camps. Announcements are made via Youth News, Bulletin inserts, Emails, and on Sunday Evenings at Youth Group.
Welcome to United Methodist Youth Fellowship! The years that you spend in youth group are a special time in your life. As a youth, I found youth group to be a constant support. The environment was so distinct from that of school or other activities. It was a group that loved me unconditionally and encouraged me to truly take time for God’s work in my life.
You will be presented opportunities to grow in your faith through education, fellowship and service. Weekly UMYF meetings consist of announcements, singing, activities and programs. You will be introduced to local speakers that are living the Word in their daily lives. We will also be participating in different service projects: tending to the poor, supporting the weak, and giving what we can to others. With all of these opportunities and more we will be creating life long friendships, memories, and a better understanding of living God’s Word.
