BULLETIN LISTEN NOW Fall festival Hello Friends, Many people name Fall as their favorite season. Their reasoning might include cooler weather, the leaves changing, or the pumpkin spiced lattes. What might not be included in one’s reasoning is SDUMC’s annual stewardship campaign. Perhaps, this is the time of year in which plan your Trunk-Or-Treat car decorations instead of participating in the worship service, or sit in a back pew playing candy crush, or maybe you decide to take a break from church all together. I’ve been there too. I admit that during the NPR pledge drives, I tend to change the channel. But I urge you not to change the channel on SDUMC this year. More goes into a stewardship campaign than writing checks. As a community of faith, we have an opportunity to celebrate all we have done together, we have time to pause and take inventory of our lives, we get to dream about the future work God is calling us to, and we are able to give God thanks for the abundance that is already in our lives. This year’s campaign is entitled, “What Shall We Bring?” But how can we know what we can bring, if we don’t know what we have? That’s why we will kick-off this year’s stewardship season focusing on God’s abundance in our lives. Diana Butler Bass says, “Everything is a gift. The degree to which we are awake to this truth is a measure of our gratefulness, and gratefulness is a measure of our aliveness.” It is my prayer we will continually awaken to the gifts that are all around us so that we may fully participate in the joy and work of bringing God’s reign to earth. I hope you will join us at 8am, 9am or 10:30am. We will also have a special ministry moment from 7:01’s Rey Arciga. Learn more about Rey, our Spotlight Person for the week, by clicking here. Peace in Christ,
