Outdoor & Livestream Worship
Over the last few weeks, we've been journeying through Three Simple Rules that were put together by John Wesley, one of the founders of the Methodist movement. This series has been a good reminder to me as we've looked at how Wesley has helped people throughout the ages understand ways to live out the verses from Matthew 22. If you haven't had a chance to be with us in person or online, I invite you to check out the series on our YouTube Channel SDUMC YouTube Channel Link. We also have an excellent resource, Three Simple Rules by Bishop Reuben P. Job, that you may pick up on Sunday or in the office throughout the week. Bishop Job took Wesley's message from the 1700s and shares it relevantly for today's world.
Through his book, Bishop Job shared, "There are three simple rules that have the power to change the world. While they are ancient, they have seldom been fully put to the test. But when and where practiced, the world of things they were was shaken until a new formation, a new world was formed. The Wesleyan movement is a prime example of this new creation that is formed when these three simple rules are adopted as a way of living." (p. 7)
This Sunday, we'll discuss the final rule, Love God, and how it can guide us throughout our life. I hope you'll join me at 8 a.m. in the Chapel (a shortened thirty-minute Communion service) to start your day, 9:30 a.m. for Outside Worship with the SDUMC Choir and special music, or Online Worship (Livestreamed at 9:30 a.m. and on Facebook or our YouTube Channel throughout the day or week to come).
Have a blessed weekend, and I look forward to being with you Inside, Outside, or Online on Sunday!
Grace, Peace, and Blessings,
John
PS We'll also begin our SDUMC Fall Music Series on Sunday with a special organ concert at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary (more information is included in the E-news). Help us share the word with the community and your friends. The concert will not be live streamed but we will have an audio recording.
