I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” Psalm 122:1

Dear SDUMC Family,

I pray that it has been a good week for you. We found a bit more normalcy on campus this week when we hosted a number of children at SDUMC Vacation Bible School 2021. As we held everything outside, there was always a joyful noise coming from all corners of the campus. Each day had a unique theme that reminded all of us, campers and adults, that God loves us and has a special call for each of our lives. I want to thank the many volunteers and the SDUMC Staff Team for going the extra mile as we continue to regather in various ways on campus. We will have a little video on Sunday that includes a special song from the children to remind us of the great love of Jesus.

This Sunday, I hope you will join me on July 4th to give thanks for our freedom to worship together. Then, we’ll culminate our Worship by sharing in Communion as a reminder that Jesus broke the bread and lifted the cup, sharing that through God, we can all experience the ultimate freedom.

We will also be welcoming back our 8 a.m. Worship in the Chapel (a shortened service with prayers, Scripture, reflection, piano, and Communion). This will replace the 10:45 Worship. Our larger gathering will remain in the Sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. (this hour will be Livestreamed). I hope you’ll make it a priority to celebrate your freedom on this special day in our country by joining us on campus or online. I know worship will be a powerful way to start our Fourth of July through Scripture, excellent music, and Communion.

Have a safe and blessed weekend, my friends!

Grace, Peace, and Gratitude, John

PS As many of us head out to picnics with our family and friends, don’t forget this Sunday is also Share The Table Sunday. This is one more way to give thanks to God by sharing with our neighbors in the Greater North County region (check out the items needed below). If you’re not able to be with us Sunday, we’ll keep the Share The Table bins in the office throughout the week.
