Sanctuary & Livestream Worship
“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” (Romans 12:4-5)
Dear SDUMC Family,
Many of us have been waiting for this special day when we can regather in the Sanctuary. In many ways, it is one more step to move beyond the uncertain and challenging times of the last year and a half. This week, I took some time to sit in various pews and pray for each of you, our church, our community, and the world. As with many of you, this will be a Sunday filled with many emotions and, of course, joy as we are able to regather in our sacred place.
However, as I pondered this last year and a half, I also see how we have tirelessly worked together as a community in countless ways. From Caring Callers to Zoom Youth Meetings, Online Bible Studies, Physically Distanced Gathering, Drive Through Celebrations, Drive-In Worship, Outdoor Worship, and more… We have truly learned how to live in Christian Community through what many of us can see as the most challenging time in recent history. I am grateful to you all for your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
The Apostle Paul never said that coming together in Christian Community had to happen in a certain way or an exact place. However, Paul did share, “…the members may have the same care for one another.” (1 Corinthians 12:25) Again, I thank you for the way that so many of you have cared for each other in action and prayer.
Throughout June, we’ll discuss the Biblical principles of community through our music, prayers, Scriptures, and messages. I hope you’ll take time to join us inside, outside, or through Livestream. This Sunday, we, as we’ve shared, we’ll be back inside the Sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. (also continuing to Livestream), and we’ll gather outside for a Service of Prayers, Communion and Meditation (with piano) at 10:45 a.m.
Once again, I look forward to being with you in worship (as you have time, please continue to RSVP for a few more weeks so that we can provide adequate seating).
Have a blessed weekend, my friends! I look forward to seeing you inside, outside, or online this Sunday!
Grace, Peace, and Gratitude,
PS. As we gather inside, we will continue to follow all the safety precautions being asked of us by the County, State, and CDC.
