"And we will come back...Home, again!"--lyrics from "From Now On" -- The Greatest Showman

As we continue to celebrate regathering in the Sanctuary, it will be an honor to share the pulpit with a wonderful colleague called to ministry from San Dieguito UMC. It is a joy to welcome a former member, an amazing colleague in ministry, and friend (and the daughter of Mark and Cheryl Allen), Rev. Rachel Allen Tabutol, this Sunday. She also happens to be the pastor to my uncle, cousins, and friends at the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village. In July, I will have the opportunity to baptize my cousin's son at Westlake Village and share the message that Sunday (yes, it really is a small world).

This Sunday, Rev. Rachel will help us continue our series on community. She shares these words, "It is a joy to come back home to the community that helped to nurture and develop my faith as a youth and young adult. San Dieguito UMC will always be home, and I am thankful for your community. This Sunday, I will share some reflections on the movie "The Greatest Showman" and how it can be seen as a retelling of the Parable of the Prodigal Son. I look forward to being with you and reflecting on our journeys of faith together. Blessings, Rachel"

As you read the E-news, you can see that many things are happening in the life of our church this weekend. I look forward to celebrating God's gift of community with you all in the Sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. (also, on Livestream) or for a time of Prayer, Meditation, and Communion (with piano) at 10:45 during Outside Worship (behind Founders Hall).

 Grace and Peace, John
