“Dare To Dream – Again: A Lesson From Peter” – May 15, 2022

Livestream Worship
When John asked me to share in the series, “Dare to Dream-Again”, I was delighted to accept. I immediately thought of the many “dream passages” in the Bible. As is my practice, I checked the lectionary to see what the readings offered for this Sunday. To my surprise, I found there one of my particular favorites.
The text is Acts 11:1-18. It’s about Peter’s dream of the “unclean animals”. When you first read it, it can seem like an obscure and irrelevant story. What could it possibly mean for us today? A deeper reading reveals that it holds a radical and much needed lesson for Peter and his community and time and for us in ours. It took God three tries to get Peter to understand. (Ever notice how often that happens with Peter!) In the end, Peter got the message. God opened Peter’s mind and heart and Peter opened the church’s doors.
I also look forward to Worshiping with you and hearing Rev. Faith's Message this Sunday at 8:00 a.m. (in the Chapel for a shortened Communion Service), 9:30 a.m. (in the Sanctuary with the Chancel Choir), or on Livestream at 9:30 a.m. (and throughout the day and week on our YouTube Channel).
This Sunday, we'll also host a Ministry Fair on the patio outside the Sanctuary, following the 9:30 am worship (during Coffee/Donut Hour). We hope you'll stick around and learn more about the many ministries on campus.
