Are you new to us?
We have three convenient times for you to worship with us Sunday morning:
8:00 am (30 minute Communion service), 9:00 and 10:30 am (traditional worship services). We also worship Wednesday evenings at 5:30 pm.
As soon as you arrive, head to the Welcome Booth.
People say this place feels like home. Our knowledgable and friendly greeters will direct you to the Sanctuary and answer any questions you may have, including what to do with your children during the service.
Some folks dress up, some take a more relaxed approach. We hope you come in what’s comfortable for you.
There are a dozen spots in our main lot that are designated just for you. Just pull in and head to the front.
We are a relaxed group of people. Enjoy coffee, donuts, and a good time talking and worshiping.
Our worship services follow a traditional order developed around a weekly Scripture and sermon. We sing hymns accompanied by the organ and choir at both services.
Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of every month. All children and adults are welcome to participate whether or not they are a member of our church or any church.
Like baptism, Holy Communion is regarded as a sacrament. For this sacramental meal, we use the traditional, elements of bread and wine—though, in United Methodist churches we prefer unfermented grape juice. Because we believe that the grace imparted in this sacrament is beyond our understanding, all people who desire to partake of God’s grace in this way are welcome at our table, whatever their age or denomination. At SDUMC, we practice Communion by intinction: as you come forward a server will place a piece of bread in your hands, which you are invited to dip into the cup of juice before receiving the elements together.
At the 9:00 AM service, children ages 3 and older are led to their Sunday School classes after the Children’s Message by the Sunday School Director, or they may remain with you in worship. Classroom information can be found in the Children and Families brochures found in the display cases at the back of the Sanctuary.
At the 10:30 service, children ages 3 through 5th Grade are led to their Sunday School classes, or they are invited to remain with their parents in worship.
The nursery is staffed for children ages 2 and under during both services.
Who cares for the children during worship?
All of our paid and volunteer Sunday School and nursery staff are members of our congregation who have undergone background checks and Safe Gatherings training.
Can I keep my children with me in worship?
Absolutely. Children of God of all ages are welcome in worship. If your little one is worshiping with you, and he or she would like a break or needs a safe, quiet place to be more active, there is a Family Room adjacent to the Sanctuary.
