Dear SDUMC Family,
This Sunday is one of my favorite Sundays as we join with millions around the globe for World Communion Sunday. We will continue our SDUMC tradition as we worship with music from one of the corners of the world. This year, we will celebrate with the children and staff of the Chacocente School in Masaya, Nicaragua. We have some heartfelt videos that the students have been working on for SDUMC. The Chancel Choir will also provide inspiring music, and we'll share in Communion with people from around the world.
World Communion Sunday began in the 1930s at Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, PA, to speak to the world during a time of unrest. As Nazi power grew in Europe and that continent was embroiled in the birth of another war, Christian denominations came together on a particular Sunday to provide an alternative vision for the world. Gathering around the table as Christians, instead of denominations, became the hope for the future that the family of Christ will know no boundaries or divisions.
This would be a great week to invite a friend to experience some hope either in person or share a Livestream invite. I hope to see you in person or online as we come together singing, praying, communing for hope, peace, and healing in our world. I hope to see you at 8 a.m. (in the Chapel), 9:30 a.m. (in the Sanctuary), or Livestream at 9:30 a.m. (also, on our YouTube channel throughout the week).
Dios te bendiga,
P.S. Also, remember to bring some non-perishable food for Share The Table Sunday to help our neighbors around the North County area.
