Rev. Melanie SIlva
Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 9:00am and 10:30am
One of the many blessings at San Dieguito UMC are the many clergy colleagues connected to our church family. There are countless moments in which one or more of these esteemed colleagues have led a small group, provided pastoral care, participated in ministry to children and youth, assisted in special moments of worship, and so much more. More importantly, I count these dear colleagues as friends and mentors in the journey of life and ministry.
This Sunday we will be blessed by a message from one of my dear friends, Rev. Melanie Silva, Deacon Emerita at SDUMC. Rev. Melanie continues to share and grace us in numerous ways at SDUMC. I hope you will join us as she shares another inspiring message.
Here are some thoughts for the upcoming Sunday from Rev. Melanie as we continue our series, This Is Us:
Think back…how many times have you said no and lived to regret it? Your logical and quick reaction is “No” and then soon after –– or perhaps a long time after –– you think, “I really should have said yes.” Or maybe you didn’t immediately say “No” but debated within yourself and ascertained the pros and cons and went with “No.” And then later you regretted your decision. Often our negative response stems from fear: fear of entering a situation we are not familiar with or fear that we will fail. You are in good company for it is in the book of Isaiah that we find the words of the Lord, “Do not fear for I am with you…I have called you by name and you are mine.” I look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we explore the challenges and rewards of saying yes when you really want to say no.
Have a blessed weekend and I look forward to worshiping with you at 8 AM (in the Chapel) or 9 AM and 10:30 AM (in the Sanctuary).
Grace and Peace, John
PS Thank you for the many ways you helped to make our 5th Annual Open Door Sunday a great success!
