My Post (4)

Hello Everyone,

Have you ever said something you didn’t mean? I’m not talking about purposely lying or misleading someone, or saying something in the heat of the moment...more like answering a question on autopilot. My guess is we all have. For example, when someone asks you how you’re doing and you reflexively respond, “good.”

Are you good? Did you mean that? Or is the socially appropriate response...“good”. There are questions like this that we don’t even think about. We just answer. The intentionality and vulnerability has been lost and it leaves us void of any real connection.

I began to think about the Lord’s Prayer in this way. We say the Lord’s Prayer every week as a community. Some of us even memorized it as children. But often I find myself reciting it without even thinking about what it says or what I mean when I say it.

And yet this is how Jesus told us to pray. The Lord’s Prayer is so vast and complex and yet so condense and deliberate. When I think about the Lord’s Prayer, I wonder if the whole of Jesus’s mission and vision is summed up in those 5 verses.

I hope to share some further reflection on the Lord’s Prayer with you all on Sunday either at the 9:30am livestream service or at the 10:45am socially distanced outdoor service. Please make sure to RSVP to reserve your spot.

Peace in Christ,
Chelsea
