My Post (4)
So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness. (Roman 12:5-8)
Dear SDUMC Family,

I pray that this finds you well. This Sunday, we’ll begin the Confirmation Journey with our SDUMC 7-12th grade students (take a moment to pray for this class as we restart our journey from last year). As I think about Confirmation, one of the topics we often discuss is God’s call for our lives. It’s always an exciting time to journey with the youth as they share their various thoughts on God’s call for their lives.

As we read throughout the Scriptures, this call does not stop as we are confirmed, but there are numerous calls throughout our lives if we genuinely listen. Brennan Manning shares, “Everybody has a vocation to some form of life-work. However, behind that call (and deeper than any call), everybody has a vocation to be a person to be fully and deeply human in Christ Jesus.”

I invite you to take a moment and read through our Scripture lesson for this Sunday Matthew 4:18-22, pray, and listen for God’s call for you at this point in your life. As we read in Romans 12, we each are called in different ways to share our God-given gifts with the world.

I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we continue our series, “Walking With Matthew Through Lent,” and head to the Sea of Galilee, where we meet Jesus calling the disciples. Again, take a few moments and ponder where Jesus may be calling you to follow in this Lenten season. Remember, no matter how young or old, Jesus’ words “follow me” continue to call us into some type of ministry.

Join us at 9:30 a.m. for Livestream (or throughout the day), and this Sunday, we will head back to our worship space behind Founders Hall for Outdoor Worship at 10:45 a.m. We will have some special music at both services and share in the great feast of Communion.

Have a blessed weekend!

Grace, Peace, and Prayers,
John
