“I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day.” President Abraham Lincoln

Dear SDUMC Family,

Greetings from the skies, as we fly back to California (we were blessed to meet my parents in Washington D.C. and celebrate some special days and an early Father’s Day with my dad this week). We’re on our way back to celebrate a special Sunday morning with you all. (Excuse any typos, as I write this on the iPhone).

We've also gathered this week for the 2022 California Pacific Annual Conference. Some of us are online and others will spend some of the time in person. Whether online or in person, it’s always a blessing to hear from friends throughout our Annual Conference that spans Southern California, Hawaii, Guam, and Saipan.

We'll share more about Annual Conference in the weeks to come. I am grateful for our SDUMC delegation and their work this year (Cheryl Allen, Dana Black, Pandora Johnson, Randa Krakow, Lynne McKiernan, Madison Shaver (South District Youth Delegate), Steve Usher, Rev. Claire, and Rev. Chelsea). If you’d like to watch any of the 2022 Annual Conference, head to calpacumc.org.

As we gather together tomorrow on Father's Day and Juneteenth Sunday, I look forward to sharing in a special morning of worship with all of you. I hope you have a blessed Saturday, and I’ll see you tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. in the Chapel (with Communion) or 9:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary (with the Chancel Choir, special music, and a few other worship elements to celebrate God’s love for all of us this Sunday). Of course we’ll Livestream and record the 9:30 a.m. service, if you are watching from home or on your travels.

Grace, Peace and Blessings,
John (and family)
