Registration

Registration forms are available in the church office and at the VBS table in Founders Hall on Sunday mornings. Registration for church members begins April 1.  Registration opens to the community Monday, April 19.

The registration fee is $60 per child, and $40 for each additional child in the same household.  Please make all checks payable to SDUMC and write VBS on the memo line. Return completed forms and checks to the church office.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Once we reach capacity, you may email us at

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

When you arrive each morning, go to Founders Hall at the north end of the parking lot.  Please sign your child (children) in at the registration table every morning.  Then proceed inside the hall, so your child can join his/her group.

You will pick your child up at his/her assigned classroom.  Please make sure to sign each child out every day.

Classroom

We assign classrooms based on age/grade. If you would like to request that your child be placed in a class with friends, please provide the appropriate information on your child’s registration form. We will do our best to accommodate all requests; however, we cannot promise that all requests will be honored.

Please look for a VBS Welcome Letter in early June that will provide information about your child’s classroom assignment and teacher.

Daily

Our exciting summer get-together will be action-packed! Each day we will start by gathering under our baobab tree, where we will hear Bible stories and share fellowship. We will follow our opening celebration with small-group time.  Then your child will rotate with his/her group to our fun stations: Arts & Crafts, Science, Story Telling and Games & Snacks.  All groups will return to their classrooms for closing time.

Snack Schedule

We are currently in the process of finalizing our snack schedule. Please look for a Welcome Letter in early June that will provide information about the snack schedule. If your child has a food allergy, we will provide an alternate snack.  Information about alternate snacks will also be included in your Welcome Letter.

What to Wear

Please note we will be using paint and other craft materials. We recommend comfortable clothing that can get a bit messy. Also, the playground area is covered in wood chips so closed-toed shoes are a good idea.

Mission Project

Every year VBS supports a mission project. This year, we will be supporting our local Encinitas Community Resource Center.  They are currently in need of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items.  We will be collecting donations on Thursday, June 24 – when we study the Good Samaritan and learn to care for others.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking for volunteers to help with supply preparations, snacks, decorations, registration tables and activities.  If you have 30 minutes, or 10 hours to spare, we will gladly take your help! Please contact us at vbs2010@encinitaschurch.com if you’re interested in lending a hand to our program.

Donations

SDUMC Vacation Bible School is a self-funded program. We happily accept donations to help purchase program supplies, as well as provide scholarships to children of families in need of financial assistance.  If you would like to make a donation, please make your check payable to SDUMC, note VBS on the memo line and drop the check at the church office.
