Jesus said, “Let the children come to me” (Matthew 19:14). This spirit of openhearted invitation guides every interaction in our children’s and youth ministries. We celebrate curiosity and wonder, honoring each child’s questions and thoughts. Through our Christ-centered curriculum, children are inspired to think deeply, feel fully, and engage with their peers and the world around them.
Family Life
Our programs provide a nurturing, fun, and formative environment where all know they are welcome and valued.

Children
Children begin Sunday mornings in worship with their families and are then invited to leave together for Sunday School. Our classes offer fun, interactive lessons that help children flourish in faith and friendship.
Families with young children who may need a little extra room to wiggle are warmly invited to our Family Quiet Room, located just off the Sanctuary. For infants and toddlers, we also offer a nursery adjacent to the Quiet Room.
Sunday School (for ages 3 through 5th grade) and the Nursery are available during worship services every Sunday.
Vacation Bible School | June 22 – 26, 2026
Every June we host an exciting week of Vacation Bible School for children 3 years old through rising 6th graders. All children are welcome to enjoy a week of fun, friendships, and faith-filled adventure.
Youth
United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)
Youth in grades 6 through 12 gather Sundays from 5 to 7 pm for meaningful conversation, activities, and service projects to live out Christ’s love and grow together in faith and friendship.
Youth Sunday School
Youth start Sunday mornings in the main worship service, then head to the Youth Room for a time of connection, learning, and fun. Sunday School is a lively, supportive space where young people can ask questions, explore Scripture, share life experiences, and grow in faith together.
Ministries Safe Compliance
We are a Ministries Safe compliant church. All our volunteers and staff who work with children and youth have completed training in child protection and safety. Background checks are up to date for paid staff, and every classroom always has at least two adults present to ensure a safe and caring environment.

Baptism
Baptism is a beautiful symbol of God’s unconditional love, new life, and the eternal faith community. As a sacred sacrament of the United Methodist Church, it represents spiritual renewal and God’s ever-present grace. Through water, we acknowledge God’s nourishment in our lives and the cleansing power of forgiveness.
At San Dieguito, we embrace baptism as a shared commitment. Families and the congregation come together to support and nurture the spiritual growth of the newly baptized.
If you would like to have your child baptized, contact the church office.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a special milestone when a baptized Christian publicly says “yes” to the promises made at their baptism. They confirm their intention to live their faith and officially become a full member of their local church and The United Methodist Church. San Dieguito regularly offers Confirmation classes and celebrates Confirmation once a year. Confirmation is open to adults as well as youth.
