Making a Difference

No matter where you are, near or far, our mission remains the same, to share love, serve others, and make a lasting impact. Through our service outreach, we strive to create a more just and equitable society for all.

We partner with trusted organizations to create meaningful service opportunities, and we invite you to be part of this mission. Whether you’re looking to volunteer once or commit to ongoing service, there’s a place for you here.

Here are some ways we’re currently helping our neighbors.

Fill-a-Belly

Every Thursday, we host a hot dinner to the food insecure through Fill-a-Belly. More than a meal, it’s a supportive gathering offering kindness and support as needed whether a clean pair of socks, a warm jacket or a friend who remembers your birthday.

Showers of Blessings

Our volunteers work with Showers of Blessings at St. Andrews Episcopal Church to provide showers, haircuts, clothing and hot breakfast to the unhoused community.

Rise Against Hunger

One Sunday each year we gather as a congregation to prepare thousands of pre-packed meals for the Rise Against Hunger organization to help the food insecure locally and around the world.

Interfaith Shelter Network

We are a host congregation for the Interfaith Shelter Network. This seasonal program provides temporary shelter for men, women and families with children on the grounds of local churches. Participants receive case-managed shelter, meals, showers, access to laundry facilities, transportation assistance as well as budgeting and job search workshops.

Community Resource Center

We partner with the Community Resource center on various projects throughout the year. Once a month we host a food drive to help keep their food pantry shelves full.

Wounded Warriors

Every Veterans Day, we collect food to support active-duty military families and veterans. Our goal is to fill a truck and we always do that and more.

Here are some of the missions beyond our borders we actively support.

New Hope Charitable Children’s Home

Pokhara, Nepal
New Hope Charitable Children’s Home provides education and support to impoverished children in Pokhara, Nepal. The center provides a safe space where children can study, receive nutritious meals, access to clean water and find love and support. The center also sponsors education for select students in English schools and provides sustenance for orphaned children. What began with 20 students has grown to over 85 and continues to expand to meet the growing needs.

Build a Miracle

Tijuana, Mexico
Through our partnership with San Diego-based Build a Miracle, we are sponsoring the construction of a new home, and a fresh start, for a deserving family in Tijuana, Mexico. Families chosen for this program meet key criteria, including community service, education, and other requirements. Many transition from living in a single-room dwelling with a dirt floor to a beautifully built, three-bedroom home constructed to U.S. standards. This initiative is about more than just building homes. We’re building lasting friendships and stronger communities.

United Methodist Missionaries

Nicaragua and Hong Kong
We maintain Covenant Partner Relationships with missionaries in Nicaragua and Hong Kong, fostering mutual support spiritually, emotionally, and financially. Through these partnerships, missionaries, churches, and individuals come together to uplift one another, strengthening their shared commitment to God’s mission. By covenanting together, both the missionaries and their supporters deepen their faith and connection to the global church.

Here are some of the organizations we partner with to support the marginalized and oppressed through advocacy, equity, and meaningful change.

Jubilee USA Network

We are a Jubilee Congregation, which means we financially support the world-wide efforts to build economies that serve, protect, and promote participation of the most vulnerable. Working with almost every major religious group in the United States, we call for debt relief for the world’s poorest countries.

Safe Harbors Network

The Safe Harbors Network at Christ Ministry Center offers vital support to refugees as they navigate the immigration process, including access to caseworkers and pro bono immigration attorneys. We provide baby and children’s clothing, diapers, warm jackets, and outerwear to help families during this transition. We also support the program financially.

Cal-Pac Conference Border Ministries

Cal/Pac Conference Joint Commission, Mexico
The United Methodist Church Cal/Pac Conference provides essential services to immigrants and asylum seekers. We prepare and provide toiletry kits to be given to immigrants at our border. We also provide clothing, shoes and outerwear to be distributed at shelters in Tijuana as well as supporting the programs financially.
