
Andrew Scher
Director of Bell Choirs
Andrew Scher grew up attending San Dieguito United Methodist Church and participated in the children’s and youth choral and handbell programs. He has been ringing handbells for over 20 years, including as a member of Purdue Bells, Velocity Handbell Ensemble, LA Bronze, and Cathedral Bells of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Orange. Andrew currently sings with Choral Arts Initiative in Orange County and is currently a member of San Diego Harmony Ringers. He participates in national handbell events for advanced ringers and directors and recently performed in the annual Zenith Handbell Ensemble. Andrew additionally picked up change ringing, a pattern-based method of ringing primarily heard on tower bells, as a hobby while studying abroad in the UK and continues practicing this art with Encinitas Handbell Change Ringers.
Andrew earned a BS in Civil Engineering at Purdue University and a MS in Civil Engineering at UC Berkeley. He works as a transportation engineer/planner. Andrew is also an avid runner and enjoys exploring trails and our natural surroundings.
