Sunday, October 29, 2023: Long-Life Eyes

Rev. Dr. Faith Conklin’s sermon, “”Long-Life Eyes.” I invite you to join me in re-reading and examining one of my favorite Old Testament stories. The text is found in Jeremiah 32. The lens I offer you is called, “long-life eyes”. The word is “hope”. I think it’s a message that’s particularly needed for our lives and our time. Anne Lamott speaks to this truth when she writes: Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don’t give up. We are the people of God. By definition we are a people of hope. In the dark and in the light, we witness to God’s grace, love and power.
